Polestar Rehabilitation Pilates
Pilates is effective for rehabilitation from an injury; it can reduce pain and disability and increase function. The beauty of Pilates is that it can take the individual from the early stages of rehab to the long-term goal of a conditioned and fully functioning body. Consistent Pilates practice gives you strength from the inside out. It aligns and balances the body's musculature, increases bone density, and improves balance and range of motion. Pilates enhances proprioception, (knowing/sensing where you are in space) which improves self-awareness. All of this equals a body with improved reflexes and balanced which in term aids in preventing falls and/or injuries that stem from overuse or repetitive actions.

Pilates for Seniors
Pilates is excellent for everybody of every age. Seniors, in particular, can benefit from a Pilates practice. Balance, strength, flexibility, focus, and your breath are all areas you may notice have changed with age. Pilates, at its core, works on improving all of those things. It is gentle enough to be right for you at any age, and every exercise can be modified on any given day to meet you where your body is that day.

Pilates for Athletes
Athletes at any age tend to have greater muscular imbalances than the general population because they repeat the same movements repeatedly within their sport. This increased repetition, usually performed with large amounts of force, creates an environment where tissues in the body can begin down. In addition, most athletic activities are unilateral and greatly favor one side of the body, contributing to muscular imbalances. Pilates corrects these imbalances and helps the athlete to understand how to self-correct the issue and maintain that correction in their sport decreasing injury rate.

Pilates for Fitness
While a lot of conventional exercise focuses on weight loss or gain and either high repetitions or heavy weights, Pilates for focuses on the needs of the individual. Emphasis is placed on adequate mobility throughout the body to increase strength through stability. Pilates strengthens weak areas of the body, bringing balance and functionality. Pilates is a short-term and long-term solution - it will safely improve your current state while gradually preparing you for more challenging movements.
